CAIDA Update -- June 28, 2012

Thanks for Making Our Reception a Success!

CAIDA's first official event took place on Tuesday, and we had a fantastic turnout and a great experience. Perhaps the open bar help keep people around, we're not sure, but whatever the reason we kept the room buzzing all afternoon. Thanks again to all of you that stopped by.

Throughout the week in Dallas, as we spread the word about CAIDA, it was very encouraging to hear overwhelming excitement and interest in what CAIDA is all about. Everyone we talked to in all fields of athletics realize the growing demands folks in our field are taking on. As lines between departments blur, and as technologies combine and merge and expand, the need for something like CAIDA feels more critical all the time. All of us there felt re-energized to keep building CAIDA into something with real value and purpose.

We have some exciting things in the works this summer, and we can't wait to share them with you in the weeks and months ahead. If you have already signed up for CAIDA info, watch your inbox for details and updates soon. If you haven't signed up, what are you waiting for? It's quick and easy to sign up right here on this page.

We'd like to take one final moment to thank Sidearm Sports for their sponsorship of the reception. They became the very first sponsor of CAIDA, and they are great guys doing great work. Thanks fellas!

CAIDA Update -- May 21, 2012

CAIDA Reception Update

If you haven't already, please make plans to join us for our introductory reception during NACDA. We will be in the Emerald Room from 2:15-4:00pm in the Hilton Anatole. There will be drinks and snacks provided, and should be a great place to learn more about us and also to meet others in the field. We are really excited to chat with everybody there, and to share what we've got planned for the next year as we look toward June of 2013.

We'd like to take a moment to thank Sidearm Sports for their sponsorship of the reception. They become the very first sponsor of CAIDA, and we are very appreciative of their support of an organization that doesn't even technically exist yet!

As we continue to spread the word about CAIDA, we have been very happy with the positive feedback. The more people we hear from, the more we realize just how much something like CAIDA could benefit those in the digital media fields. We look forward to talking more about it with you on June 26!

CAIDA Update -- April 27, 2012

Check Your Inbox!

We sent an email update this week to website and digital media contacts all over the country and across all levels of collegiate athletics. If you didn't get it, sign up here at joincaida.com to be added to our mailing list!

As the email describes, we are working towards building CAIDA to be the professional development association for those of us in digital media in collegiate athletics. We are still in the independent planning stage, and are not currently under the oversight of any parent organization, such as NACDA.

We think there would be great value to having this sort of organization. Internet, video and multimedia professionals in athletic departments are scattered in several different areas -- some of us are under Sports Information, some are under Marketing, some are under Video, and others are stand alone. As a result, there is no umbrella that all of us sit under, and no annual convention or event that brings us all together. We also recognize that the web will be a growing area of opportunity for athletics departments, and that as our role and workload increases there would be value in having a support system to share ideas, network with counterparts, and develop relationships with others.

We believe CAIDA will provide that support and development. We're excited about the potential, and we hope you are too. As we work toward our launch in June of 2013, keep checking here or in your inbox for more updates.
